I Got A Raise – But Not By Arizona

I got a letter from the unemployment office which states:

“The American Recovery and Investment Act of 2009, P.L. 111-5, provides for the payment of temporary Federal Additional Compensation (FAC).  FAC provides that you will receive an additional $25 supplement for each week in which you are eligible for any amount of unemployment insurance (UI) benefits including Emergency Unemployment Compensation beginning with payment for the week ending February 28, 2009.  etc. etc. etc.”

Oooooooo a $25 dollar raise.  Still taxable of course.  So I guess now I can buy some cat food and toilet paper.  It honestly should have been $50 at least.  Not only that but this is something that is not permanent.  Just something that the new Prez signed for and in effect till 2010.  This did not come from the state.  Other states got this too.

So with that, AZ will still be ranked as the 5th largest city in the United States with the 3rd lowest Unemployment benefits.  This angers me more and more everyday, especially when we are spending $1.4 billion dollars on a useless light rail system but can’t be bothered to raise unemployment benefits to people who lost their jobs.  Well I don’t know who the hell will be using that pointless waste of a train since everyone will be out of work, homeless and starving.

I found this really interesting piece of information dated March 2002 – which states how really, really bad the unemployment system is.

Arizona ranks NUMBER TWO IN FAILING THE MOST out of all states.  Wow, like I’m shocked.  Believe me now peoples?

Arizona needs to get with the program on their Unemployment system and benefits.  On top of that, we are one of the states hit the hardest in this whole mess.  What an absolute embarrassment too since Arizona is usually a well run state in many things.    I plan on writing some letters but I’m sure it won’t do any good.  WAKE UP AZ GOVERNMENT!!!  These are desperate times!
