State Run Media and Priorities

Remember those members of the U.N. who were sent here to observe our voting process?  An article I read said they couldn’t understand why we are not required to show proof of ID to vote and that we allow mail in ballots and even some online voting.  They were surprised at quite a lot of things actually.

This time the USDA delayed its release nine days past the semi-official deadline, far past the election, and until Friday night to report August food stamp data. One glance at the number reveals why: at 47.1 million, this was not only a new all-time record, but the monthly increase of 420,947 from July was the biggest monthly increase in one year.

Sandy victims still without power and supplies.  Some reports I saw say that there is a lot of red tape going on.  Things like supplies just sitting in areas and not being distributed.

Then of course there is Benghazi.  Yes remember that?  Four Americans die in a seven hour dog fight after being told stand down while drones fed it all live to Washington D.C.  SEVEN HOURS.  Then the world told for weeks it was a video to be blamed.

These things are not being reported on our state run media I guess because well… it’s not news?  Not important?  Don’t want to hurt President Lady Parts reputation?  Yet an affair involving decorated military generals is on the front of every web page, newspaper and TV station for two straight days and I’m guessing many more to come.  So very pleased that America has its priorities straight.  ‘Cause well… I was confused as to what we should be focusing on to help our country and its citizens.

The Cold War Still Continues

I had a pretty good laugh at work today with some co-workers.  We were discussing the women’s gymnastics team at the Olympics and the convo went like this:

Guy 1:  Did you see the women’s gymnastics last night?

Me:  Yeah that was pretty awesome.  I felt bad for the Russians.  They were so heartbroken.

Guy 1:  I know.  That has to be hard to have all that pressure on you when you are that young.

Guy 2:  I’m glad they were crying.

Me:  *laughs*

Guy 1:  Why do you say that?

Guy 2:  Man… fuck the Russians.  They killed Creed.

All:  LOL

Wonder Woman

The new Batman movie is coming out soon.  Not that I’m huge fan or anything but I do think Christian Bale has been the best one out of all the others.  I do miss that corny ass TV show with Adam West.  But I saw this picture on Pinterest and I quite like it.  heh.

I have wondered why Hollywood hasn’t made a Wonder Woman movie yet.  Some years ago I thought Angelina Jolie would make a good one with her large round eyes, lips, dark hair, long legs and big chest.  But she’s getting a bit older now so that opportunity might have passed.

Revenge

I have to admit I’m loving that new show Revenge on ABC.  I’m hooked.  It’s like old school night soaps like Dallas or Dynasty.  This one takes place in the Hamptons.  Nice.

It’s all about a girl whose father was framed and died at the hands of the rich and shameless.  The girl grows up and has vowed to get revenge on every single person involved.  She’s of course taking on a different identity and working on the down low with all of her evil plotting.

There are so many twists and turns it’s hard to keep up!  How are they going to top this next season?  Sheesh.

I like how pretty much the whole cast is a bunch of unknowns except for queen bee played by Madeleine Stowe.  Kewl.  I’ve always like her.  I find it kind of funny she is playing on a show called Revenge.  Some years ago she played in one of my favorite movies with Kevin Costner also called Revenge.

I was discussing the show with one lady at work and she predicted that scum Tyler was really poor and hiding it.  Then a guy I was talking with predicted that he was gay.  So tonight’s episode revealed he’s poor AND gay!  Double prediction true.  Ha!

Anyone else watching?

Master and Commander

One of my surprise favorite movies is on.  Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.  I say surprise because when I went to go see this movie when it originally came out in the theatre I thought I was going to be bored.  But I wasn’t and was quite surprised at how good it was.  Russel Crowe is always good of course and he was believable as the Commander.

It does have a bit of nice humor to it as well.  One of my favorite lines by Crowe, “Name a shrub after me.  Something prickly and hard to eradicate.”  This was in response to his good friend the doctor being extremely thankful for letting them stay on the island so he could discover bugs, animals and plants.

If you can’t decide what to order on Netflix I would suggest this one.  Action, suspense, humor and good dialog.

The Best Free Deal Ever!

So I do pay for Dish TV – it’s one of the few things I pay extra for in life along with makeup, nails and Internet.  I do have the basic package with HBO.  Well this weekend I noticed that I have one Encore channel and a bunch of Starz channels.  Now lately they have been randomly doing that with movie channels as free promotions I’m guessing.  They don’t advertise it and they disappear after a few weeks.

Well one of the Starz channels caught my eye on the TV Guide.  It said Free Starz for a year!  Yes kiddies a year.  I think it was to celebrate their anniversary and how long they have been around or something.  A few weeks back I was getting all the Encore channels for a free preview and to be honest I wish they would have given me that package instead of all the Starz ones with only one Encore channel.  The Encore channels played better movies including a lot of stuff from the 80’s.

But hey, I can’t complain!  Free movie channels for a year, you really can’t beat that.  Clever little buggers at Dish.  They know you’ll get good and used to those channels after a year and when they suddenly go away, people will want to purchase them back.  Not everyone of course but I’m sure quite a few will.
